City on course for Ascot reappearance
The Author

Hey, my name is The Web Guy, and I first published 'City on course for Ascot reappearance' on 5th November, 2007, within the Horse Racing section.
Philip Hobbs has confirmed that Detroit City will make his seasonal bow in the Coral Ascot Hurdle on November 24.
The grey gelding promised much in the early part of last season when recording impressive wins in the Greatwood Handicap Hurdle, Boylesports International and Agfa Hurdle.
However, much to his trainer’s dismay he did not threaten in the Champion Hurdle, and flopped again less than a month later in the Baltika Beer Hurdle at Aintree where he trailed in last.
Terry Warner’s five-year-old then underwent surgery to treat a breathing problem and connections are confident he will return sharper than ever.
The Coral Ascot Hurdle over two miles, three and a half furlongs has been nominated as the first target but future plans have yet to be decided.
“Everything is going well and the plan is still Ascot in three weeks’ time,” said Hobbs.
“I don’t know yet (if blinkers will be put on again) - I haven’t discussed it with the owners.” he told Saytantahsports.com.
